pleased to offer Northeastern Hickory. Regional Hickory trees
exhibit a nice blend of relatively white sapwood and a pale
reddish brown heartwood. Grain patterns are generally wavy and
irregular. All of our Hickory products are carefully
manufactured and professionally dried.
Hickory is well known for its very
good strength and shock resistance, and it has excellent steam
bending properties. However, it is also widely considered
difficult to machine and glue, and is especially hard to work
with hand tools. It can also be difficult to properly dry, so
expertise is needed. Hickory accepts stains and finishes only
moderately well.
